Imam Ali (AS); One Perfect Role Model of Educational Conduct

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Imam Ali (AS), as a perfect role model of educational conduct, persuaded people to virtues and dissuaded them from vices mostly through his actions.Addressing the Friday prayers assembly on January 27 in Tehran, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Reza Taghavi, head of the policy-making council for Friday-prayer leaders, elaborated on the doctrines of Islamic education based on Imam Ali’s (AS) educational conduct and manners.Referring to educational discourse and behavior as two important means of discipline, he noted that the latter is more effective as it aims at showing the learners the correct ways of behaving more practically.“A true believer should first express his faith in words and then practice it in his behavior; merely claiming to have faith with no real manifestations in behavior is not believed to be a true image of faith,” he went on to say.Referring to the Iranian nation’s consistency in both their slogans and actions, Hojat-ol-Islam Taghavi asserted that “the Iranians’ resistance to all oppressive sanctions imposed on them following the Islamic Revolution is witness to their consistent attitude which has created the current Islamic awareness in the region.”Highlighting the individuals’ good deeds as the only reliable measure for evaluating their character, he added: “An influential leader, according to Imam Ali (AS), should train himself first before embarking on training others and practice what he preaches prior to them.”Hojat-ol-Islam Taghavi further referred to Imam Ali (AS) as a perfect role model of educational conduct who persuaded people to virtues and dissuaded them from vices mostly through his actions.“Imam’s humble attitude of living among people and his respect for their human dignity and honor as well as his particular attention to the growth of the youth in all aspects are among the characteristic features of his educational strategies,” he pointed out.He further highlighted the Supreme Leader’s guidelines as effective methods of education, urging the officials to apply them in their educational plans particularly for the youth. /129
